So yeah, I'm a pastor. But don't let that put you off. I'll surely touch on spiritual things here, as music is a powerful spiritual force for me, whether I specifically tie it in with God or not. I think music can convey the whole range of human emotion and experience, and that's a big reason why I love it so much. And I bet that even if you don't consider yourself "religious," we can connect on that common love and appreciation.
Shortly after I began at my first church, I started blogging at Philosophy Over Coffee. That was nine years ago. It eventually spawned this project. Hit up the "About the Project" tab to learn more. The point I want to make is simply that I've been a blogger for a very long time, and I wanted you to know that for some reason.
I was born in Michigan, just outside Detroit. I grew up as a PK ("pastor's kid" for the uninitiated), and that familial lifestyle eventually landed us in northeast Ohio, which I have called home for over 20 years. However, I remain loyal to sports teams that hail from Detroit and Ann Arbor. Maybe that'll put you off more than the pastor thing. Oh well.
I'm a pop culture nut, chiefly of music. Shocking, right? I play guitar, bass, and drums and love a wide variety of musical styles. I also almost always have a book or two laying around that I'm reading, and I especially love theology and spirituality, history, memoir, and a good novel.
I've been married over a decade (to "Coffeewife") and have a son ("Coffeeson"). A second child ("Coffeedaughter") joined us on September 1st.
I love coffee. I drink a lot of it.
